Heavy Material Containers for LA County

10 Yarder
Size:
2ft x 8ft x 18ft. Great for: Dirt, Concrete, Brick, Rock, Asphalt, Sand. Not Used for Trash.
The 10-yard dumpster from BG’s Big Box Service is a specialized container designed for one specific job category: heavy materials. Concrete, dirt, brick, rock, asphalt, and sand — the debris that comes from demolition work, driveway removal, foundation projects, and grading — is exactly what this container is designed for. At 2 feet tall by 8 feet wide by 18 feet long, it sits low to the ground, which makes loading heavy material safer and more efficient than trying to throw it over the side of a taller box.
One important distinction: the 10-yarder is not used for general trash or mixed debris. It is a dedicated container for heavy materials. If your project generates a combination of concrete and household waste, you’ll need to keep them separate — and we can advise on the right combination of containers before we schedule your delivery. This isn’t a restriction unique to BG’s; it reflects how landfills and recyclers categorize and process different material streams throughout LA County.
What the 10-Yarder Is Built For
Contractors and homeowners across the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles use the 10-yarder for projects where the weight of the material, not the volume, is the controlling factor. A driveway replacement in Burbank, a patio demolition in Pasadena, an old block wall teardown in Glendale, a grading project in Calabasas, or a foundation prep in North Hollywood — all of these generate material that is too heavy for a standard roll-off but needs to be hauled away in volume.

- Asphalt driveway removal
- Rock, gravel, and sand disposal

Dimensions and Weight Considerations
The 10-yard container measures 2ft tall x 8ft wide x 18ft long. The low-profile design — just two feet of sidewall — is intentional. Heavy material is loaded from the top, and the lower the lip, the less physical effort it takes to load concrete block, wet dirt, or broken asphalt. Despite its modest appearance, this container is rated for significant weight. If you’re working with saturated soil or dense concrete, we can walk you through the weight limits before delivery to make sure you’re in the right container for the job.
Who Uses the 10-Yarder Most
The 10-yarder is popular among concrete contractors, landscapers, general contractors, and homeowners doing their own demolition work throughout LA and Ventura Counties. We regularly deliver these containers to job sites in Chatsworth, Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, Mission Hills, Northridge, Reseda, and Sylmar — as well as to commercial and residential projects in Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, La Canada, and La Crescenta. For contractors who need multiple containers or have ongoing project needs, we offer commercial accounts — you can learn more on our contractor services page. For general residential demolition projects that include a mix of heavy material and lighter debris, pairing a 10-yarder with a 3-yard container is a common and cost-effective approach.
Serving Los Angeles County and the San Fernando Valley
BG’s Big Box Service has delivered heavy material containers throughout the San Fernando Valley and greater Los Angeles since 1981. From concrete removal jobs in Studio City and Sherman Oaks to demolition projects in Culver City, Santa Monica, Inglewood, and Malibu — we know the neighborhoods, the access constraints, and how to get the right container where it needs to go. Our Sun Valley location gives us efficient access to most of the Valley and central LA without long drive times that add to your cost.
44 Years and Over One Million Containers
Since opening in 1981, BG’s Big Box Service has rented more than 1,000,000 containers to homeowners, contractors, and commercial clients across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. That track record means we’ve encountered every variation of the job you’re planning — unusual site access, soil conditions, material questions, timing needs — and we can help you think through it before the truck arrives. CalRecycle provides guidelines on proper concrete and inert debris recycling in California, and we dispose of materials in compliance with current LA County regulations.

10-Yard Dumpster FAQs
What is the 10-yard dumpster designed for — can I put regular trash in it?
No. The BGS 10-yard dumpster is designed exclusively for heavy materials — concrete, dirt, asphalt, gravel, sand, and similar dense debris. It is not a general trash dumpster. Because of the weight density of these materials, mixing in regular garbage or light debris throws off load calculations and can create issues during transport.
Why can't heavy materials go in a standard roll-off dumpster?
Weight is the issue. Concrete, soil, and asphalt are extremely dense — a relatively small volume can weigh several tons. Standard roll-off dumpsters aren’t built to handle that weight concentration safely. The 10-yard unit is specifically engineered for heavy materials, keeping the load manageable and legal for transport on San Fernando Valley roads.
What is the weight limit for the 10-yard heavy-material dumpster?
Weight limits vary by material and are confirmed at booking. Concrete and dirt fill quickly by weight, even at low volume. BGS will help you estimate load based on your project scope — whether you’re breaking up a driveway in Reseda, excavating a yard in Northridge, or demoing a slab in Van Nuys.
Can I mix concrete, dirt, and asphalt in the same 10-yard dumpster?
Yes, heavy inert materials can generally be mixed. The restriction is against mixing heavy materials with general trash, household waste, or light construction debris. If your project produces both heavy and light debris, you may need two separate containers — BGS can help you figure out the right combination.
How is a 10-yard heavy-material dumpster delivered in the San Fernando Valley?
BGS schedules delivery to your project site and places the unit where you need it — in the driveway, on the jobsite, or in a designated area. Given the weight involved, the drop location needs to be on stable, load-bearing ground. Soft soil or recently poured areas are not ideal placement surfaces. Confirm placement logistics when you book.
